The Rise of Tawnya G: From Toronto to the Global Stage

Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, Tawnya G began exploring music at just 18 years old. However, it wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that she truly began to take her craft seriously. Her breakout moment came in 2021 when she signed with a small label and opened for major artists including Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, Millyz, Obie Trice, D12, and Riff Raff.

One of her earliest standout moments came through her collaboration with Bizarre of D12 on her debut single Mad, a track shot and directed by Reel Wolf. The experience set the stage for her unique artistic identity—a blend of raw energy, emotional depth, and modern production.

After leaving her previous label to pursue more creative freedom, Tawnya G met Black Oxygen while performing at Toronto’s Rivoli. That connection sparked Bad Math, filmed and directed in Los Angeles and released through her Sony Orchard distribution deal. Officially launched on November 28, 2025, Bad Math marks a defining milestone in her career.

The Sound and Vision Behind “Bad Math”

Tawnya G Bad Math reflects her evolution both musically and personally. The song’s electro-pop vibe with R&B undertones perfectly captures her versatility. Influenced by iconic ‘90s and Y2K artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Outkast, Ja Rule, and Ashanti, Tawnya brings a nostalgic yet futuristic energy to every track.

“Much of my music comes from real-life experiences—heartbreak, growth, and empowerment,” she shares. “I want both men and women to feel strength through my songs.”

As her catalog grows, Tawnya G Bad Math serves as a reminder that staying authentic and emotionally connected is the key to longevity in today’s music industry.
